From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
