The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Over Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
